Netball is Coming to Foxes Club: A New Way for Kids to Play in Kensington

We’re incredibly excited to announce that netball is coming to Foxes Club this September!

For the first time, we’re bringing weekly netball classes and competitive junior netball to Kensington, giving even more local children the opportunity to get active, learn new skills and experience everything that makes team sport so special.

From children picking up a netball for the very first time to young players ready for the excitement of regular competitive matches, our new netball programme has been designed to give boys and girls more ways to play, develop and have fun.

Why netball?

At Foxes Club, we believe that giving children access to a variety of sports is incredibly important.

Not every child finds their sport straight away. The more opportunities they have to try something new, the more chance they have to discover an activity they genuinely love – and build an active lifestyle that stays with them. This is something we’ve written about before in is there a sport to suit everyone.

That’s one of the reasons we’re so excited to introduce netball for kids in Kensington.

Netball is fast, energetic and brilliantly social. While children are learning to pass, shoot, move and defend, they’re also developing coordination, communication, decision-making and teamwork. Team sports like this play a big role in how sports affect child development.

It gives children the chance to be part of something, make new friends and grow in confidence – both on and off the court, something we explore further in why team sports matter for kids’ social development.

And importantly, netball at Foxes Club is for boys and girls. We want more children to have the opportunity to experience this brilliant sport in a fun, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to get involved – in line with our approach to inclusive sport supporting children with SEND.

Weekly netball classes for kids aged 5–11

Netball Launch 5

Our new weekly netball classes for boys and girls aged 5–11 launch this September.

Led by qualified netball coaches, sessions will be packed with games, movement and age-appropriate challenges designed to keep every child active and engaged.

Players will develop the foundations of the game, including footwork, passing, shooting, coordination and positional play, while learning how to communicate and work together as a team.

Whether they’re completely new to netball or already love playing, our coaches will help children progress at their own pace, build confidence and – most importantly – have loads of fun. Consistency matters here too, as we’ve discussed in why consistency in sport builds confidence in children.

Introducing the Foxes Netball League

Netball Launch 3

For young players ready to experience competitive netball, we’re also launching something very special this September:

The Foxes Netball League – Kensington’s first junior netball league.

Taking place every Friday evening at Avondale Park, W11, our new junior league is open to boys and girls aged 7–14.

Players can expect regular competitive fixtures, league tables, qualified coaches, experienced umpires and end-of-season trophies and awards – all delivered in the fun, friendly and professionally organised Foxes environment, similar in spirit to our existing Foxes Fives League.

Teams of 5–8 players from the same school year can enter together, whether they’re school teammates, classmates or friends. We recommend squads of 6–8 players to help cover absences.

Don’t have enough players for a full team? That doesn’t mean you have to miss out. We can help connect families looking for players and teams.

From learning the game to competing every Friday

Netball Launch 4

One of the things we’re most excited about is giving young players a pathway to keep developing.

A child might arrive at one of our weekly classes having never played netball before. They can learn the fundamentals, grow in confidence and discover a love for the game – and, when they’re ready, have the opportunity to put those skills into action through competitive matches in the Foxes Netball League. This mirrors the broader benefits we cover in benefits of competitive sports for children.

It’s about creating more opportunities for children in Kensington to try sport, find what they love and see where it can take them.

More sport. More opportunities. More kids getting active.

For us, launching netball is about more than adding another activity to the Foxes timetable.

It’s about giving families in Kensington more choice when it comes to children’s sport and giving boys and girls another opportunity to get moving, make friends, develop confidence and experience the joy of being part of a team.

We can’t wait to see our first Foxes netball players step onto the court this September.

New sport. New skills. New friendships. And a whole lot of Foxes fun. 🦊🏐
